Mrs. Margaret Elaine Carr, age 88, of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Carr was born March 2, 1937, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Tol and Bessie Anderson.  She was a secretary with the Lamar County DHR, and was married to the late Billy Carr. Mrs. Carr was also a member of the Friendship South Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth (Jessie Lee) Barnes and Jonnie Smith; one brother, Billy Rex (Barbara) Anderson; one niece, Teresa Dudley; and her brother-in-law, Paul Chaffin.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Carlos Dean officiating.  Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Barnes, Tim Barnes, Jess Barnes, Easton Aldridge, Blake Stephens, and Chad Aldridge.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Lois Chaffin, of Vernon, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends; and her brother-in-law, John Kelly Smith.
