Obituary
Mrs. Mary Merlene Holley, age 86 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at Generations of Vernon.
Mrs. Holley was born July 22, 1925, in Walker Co., AL to the late Felix and Attie Walker. She was a receptionist at Lamar Co. General Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Mills, Robert Jordan, and J.C. Holley; son, Phil Mills; sister, Jewel Gardner; and two brothers, Clayton Gardner and Allen Gardner.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church with Clyde Stevens officiating. She will lie in state at the church 1-2 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holley is survived by her sister, Jean Walker of Vernon, AL; two grandchildren, Brooke Williamson of Columbus, MS and Jared Mills of Moundville, AL; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
