Mary C. Lucas

Mrs. Mary Carrine Gunnels Standridge Lucas, age 86, of Sulligent, AL, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Lucas was born April 30, 1940, to the late Ross and Gertrude Chaffin Gunnels.  She was a faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and rededicated her life on September 8, 2024, at New Life Fellowship in Winfield.  Mrs. Lucas worked at Ervin's Florist then later retired from Chromalox.  She was married to the late Howard Standridge and J.L Lucas, and was also preceded in death by four brothers, J.W. Gunnels, James "Skinny" Gunnels, Joel Gunnels, and Carlton Gunnels, and one sister, Ann Patrick.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 12, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. John Longmire officiating.  Burial will be at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Patrick, David Gunnels, Kevin Gunnels, Alex Christian, Matt Christian, and Chase Christian.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Gunnels, Michael Gilliam, Billy Hawkins, Ryan Gosa, and Chris Lockhart.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Standridge and Tommy (Rebecca) Standridge; one daughter, Sheila (Victor) Booth; two step-sons, Roger (Helen) Lucas and Michael Lucas; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cunningham, Clay (Katie) Booth, Kimberly (Demitri) Apostolidis, Paige (Cole) White, Shawn Carter, Kyle (Toshia) Lucas, and Kamie Lucas; 12 great-grandchildren, Caleigh Hollis, Cooper and Wells Booth, Alexander Apostolidis, Parker and Brody White, Cruise and Cohen Carter. Asher and Abby Lucas, Braxton Lucas, and Colton Ingram; and her special friend and sister-in-law, Bonnie Standridge.
