Ms. Mary Alice Webber, age 95, was called to her eternal home at her residence in Vernon, AL on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was the first offspring born to the union of the late Mr. Gene Webber and the late Mrs. Elmire Cribbs Webber. Mary Alice was blessed with one son, Ricky Truelove. He was an everlasting bundle of joy and love who fulfilled her life completely.

She became a member of Shiloh CME Church which later became Murry-Shiloh CME Church at a very young age and remained a member until she transitioned from her earthly home. She attended the Lamar County Training School in Vernon, AL along with her five siblings.

Mary Alice having the same characteristics as her five sisters, had a magnificent personality. She would make you laugh, would always show love, and was immensely generous. She loved her family and friends.

She was a homemaker all of her precious, beautiful life. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her abode. Mary Alice was an exceptional cook. Any food she prepared was like a delicacy. She cooked like a chef. She was proficient in many aspects of food preparation. Her food would have a rare, highly desirable taste that was considerate a special treat, often signifying something special, luxurious, or sophisticated, differentiating it from everyday food. Mary Alice devoted her life to assisting family and friends with raising their children. She helped to provide physical needs (food, shelter) and emotional/social guidance, including teaching values, behaviors, and often discipline while nurturing and supporting the children through adulthood. She facilitated these children to become self-sufficient, healthy, and functional adults. She truly gave her all. She had a heart full of gold. If you wanted to see a big smile with open arms, just walk into her presence. She would open her arms and start smiling for you to come to her in order that you would receive this tightly held hug.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Gene Webber and Mrs. Elmire Cribbs Webber; four of her beloved sisters, Mrs. Ollie Gray Neal, Mrs. Olean Salters, Mrs. Mamie Ann McCrary, and Mrs. Arma Nell McDougle.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, at 12:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Willie Sanders officiating. A graveside service will follow at Shiloh CME Cemetery on the McGill Gin Road. Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Salters, Jeremiah Salter, Derek D. Spears, Sim O.Holmes, Jr, Allen Wade Manning, and Danny Joe Hollis. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Hollis, Joe Lee Neal, Larry Salters, Billy Wayne Coleman, Ronnie Salters, and Randy Hollis.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: one son, Ricky Truelove of Vernon, Alabama; one sister, Ludie Bell Hollis of Vernon, Alabama; special cousin (like her sister) Lois West of Vernon, Alabama; special niece, Dorothene Harris of Vernon, Alabama; seven grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, other loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and associates.
