Mr. Melvin Lee McMichael, age 78, of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, at is his home with his family by his side.

Melvin was born in Lineville, AL in Clay County, to J.C. and Audrey McMichael.  After 35 years of service, he retired as a manager with Marathon.  No one better exemplified the hard work, dedication, and determination that has made Marathon the leader in its industry.  Melvin helped build and had a part in securing Marathon's future, words per Marathon's upper leadership.

Melvin's love was for God, his wife, children, and grandchildren whom he was so proud of.  He attended Vibrant Church in Columbus.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Allen McMichael.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Sandra Guthery-McMichael; his daughter, Janice Clay; step-children, DeWayne Ford, Dawn Mitchell, and Devin Stanford, all of whom he also loved as his own; grandchildren, Trey Webb, Drew Fowlkes, Matthew Ford, Evan Mitchell, James Stanford, Megan Ford, and Jana Stanford; his great-grandchildren, Gunner Webb and Henley Webb; three brothers; and two sisters.

There will be a private service with immediate family, and a memorial service in Birmingham, AL with his sisters and brothers.
