Mr. M.F. Duke, Sr., age 88, of Vernon, AL, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his son's residence.

Mr. Duke was born February 26, 1935, in Vernon, AL, to the late Moses Forster and Eula Duke.  He was a truck driver for 45 years with Eskridge Trucking, and was married to the late Frankie Gail Duke for 40 years.  He was also preceded in death by his son, M.F. "Shotgun" Duke, Jr.; three daughters, Victoria Jean Barton, Sandra Denise Duke, and Virginia Ann Waid; two grandsons, Micheal Dewayne Welch and Kevin Keith Waid; and a host of siblings.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 2, at 5:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. James Godsey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4:00-5:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Waid, Hank Curry, Darrin Duke, M.J. Duke, Jeffrey Matthews, Josh Hall, Dale Curry, Sean Kukorlo, Jr., and C.J. Wallace.

Survivors include three sons, Bennett (Gloria) Duke, James "Doug" Duke, and Matt (Tina) Duke; two daughters, Nancy Welch and Diann Duke; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Mangum.
