Morris Edward Bryant , 82 of Northport, AL., formally of Millport, AL, born May 3, 1933 and departed this life on May 31, 2015 at his home.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Visitation is from 2pm to 4pm with the Life Celebration beginning at 4:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Vernon, AL. Rev. Billy Carl Sullivan and Rev. Nathan Herren will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Millport, AL.
He served in United States Air Force from March 25, 1953 - February 8, 1957. He is a veteran of the Korean War stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador. Morris was an active Gideon of Lamar and Tuscaloosa Camps and an active member of First Baptist in Tuscaloosa. He was a member of the Lamar County Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Downey Bryant; daughters, Melinda Bryant Herren (Dan), Bonnie Bryant Corbett (Mike); one son, Andrew Bryant (Greta) all of Northport, AL; six grandchildren, Dana Herren Warren (Ty), of Dothan, AL, Nathan Herren (Elizabeth), Tyler Corbett, Joseph Bryant, Benjamin Bryant and Daniel Bryant all of Northport, AL; five great-grandchildren, Addison Grace, Graham and Luke Warren, Rylee Kate and Carson Herren; two sisters, Nettie Bea Canterbury and Gail Fields(Waymon); and one brother, Fred Bryant. And a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Lee Bryant and Eva Lou McGee Bryant; three brothers, Pascal Bryant, Floyd Bryant and Erbie Bryant; and three sisters, Eunice Winters, Opal Canterbury and Mavis Bryd.
