Mrs. Nellie Ruth Taggart, age 88, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, with her loved ones and friends by her side at her daughter's residence.

Nellie Ruth was born on November 8, 1935, in Vernon, AL.  She graduated from Lamar County High School Class of 1954.  After graduation, Nellie Ruth worked at the Lamar Democrat, Bostick Furniture Co., and The Bank of Vernon.  After retirement, she worked at the family business, Falkner Antique Mall.  She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  Over the years, she was a church clerk, a Sunday School teacher, and choir member.  In addition, she drove the church bus, served on numerous committees, and was an active member of WMU.  She was a founding member of the Young Matrons Club and a member of UDC.  Nellie Ruth belonged to the Vernon Rose Club where she and her husband won rose shows nationwide.  She was also a member of the Hot Grannys' Bowling Team.  Her favorite past-time was riding the roads looking for deer.

Nellie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents, Franklin and Connie Robertson; and sons-in-law, Larry Perkins and Bill Kirk.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 31, at 3:00 PM, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Bro. Mike Rogers and Bro. Tim Meherg officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 at the church prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Gary Elliott, Joy Elliott, Daniel Elliott, Paul Young, Jerry Black, Brent Morrison, Will Gilmer, and Robbie Bradford.

Nellie Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karon Kirk; her brother, Jerry (Hester) Robertson; grandchildren, Rhett (Janine) Trimm, Candy (Daren) Gordon, Emily (Andrew) Perkins, and Amy (Adam) Agee; great-grandchildren, Shiloh and Nic Gordon, Mason and Kendall Trimm, Parker, Theo, and Sam Agee; her nephew, Chris (Michelle) Robertson; her niece, Tanya (Rod) Helms; and best friend, Jenni Hankins.
