IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norman
White
January 28, 1939 – January 25, 2025
Mr. Norman Roland White, also known as Buddy to all his friends and family, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Buddy was born January 28, 1939, in Lamar County, AL, to the late James and Carrie White. After many years of living in Jackson, MS and Panama City, FL, he moved to Amory where he had family. He and his wife, Mary Lou, opened the Amory and Produce and Market (old Shields Grocery) in 1996. He had a thriving business and made many friends. Sadly, after several back surgeries, his doctor advised a year of recuperation, and Buddy moved to South Alabama and sold his business. After a year he returned to North Mississippi where he again worked in produce. In 2022, he began to have health problems and moved to Hamilton, MS to the Hamilton Senior Independent Living Apartments until his death. Buddy attended the Vernon Church of Christ.
Buddy is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou White; his brothers, Ike White, Ernest White, Thurman White, and James David White, Jr.; and his sisters, Mary Lee McNees, Lucile White, and Virginia Weldon.
There will be a memorial graveside service on Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 PM, at Furnace Hill, with Jimmy McNees officiating.
Buddy is survived by one son, Norman Andrew (Lisa) White; five grandchildren, Drew (Katrina) McCain, Crystal Jones, Joey White, Matthew White, and Patrick White. He also leaves a dear friend and caregiver until his death, Betty Dye; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
