Mrs. Ora Seay Burnett, age 91 of Vernon, AL, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at Generations of Vernon.
Mrs. Burnett was born October 17, 1924, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Calvin and Frances Lawrence. She was a seamstress and housewife and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Burnett was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Banks Burnett; her son, Calvin Burnett; her son-in-law, Trevor Hicks; one great-great-grandson, Layne Rogers; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with Kevin Suddith and Bud Phillips officiating. She will lie in state at the church 10-11. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 6-7 at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy (Bud) Phillips of Columbus, MS and Loraine Hicks of Cumming, GA; her daughter-in-law, Lenora Burnett of Tuscaloosa, AL; seven grandchildren, Shae (Ellis) Thompson, Colby (Tricia) Waldon, Brian James, Hollie (Chad) Higdon, Lisa (Allen) Kerby, Leyton Phillips, and Doug (Katherine) Phillips; 13 great-grandchildren, Logan Waldon, Maris James, Harrison Higdon, Katie Thompson, Brinley Waldon, Mary Douglas Kerby, Allie Kerby, Parker Phillips, Rayne Phillips, Madison Phillips, John Phillips, Ethan Thompson, and Justin Thompson; one sister, Margie Stidham of Saraland, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
