Obituary

Mr. Owanna Dean Wheeler, age 74 of Vernon, AL, passed away Satuday, December 22, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Mr. Wheeler was born December 29, 1937, in Lamar Co., AL to the late Myrt and Dessie Wheeler. He served in the National Guard for twelve years and was an auto mechanic and produce manager for A&P Company. Mr. Wheeler enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, working on cars, dirt track racing, and watching westerns and Alabama football. He was member of Mt. Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Wheeler was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ollie Dee Wheeler and Orval Wheeler, and two sisters, Grace Lucas and Opal Lawrence.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 at the Vernon City Complex with Danny Thompson and James Waldon officiating. Burial will follow at Sizemore Cemetery in Beaverton. Visitation will be 11-1 at the Vernon City Complex prior to the service.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Wheeler of Vernon, AL; son, Michael Wheeler of Fayette, AL; daughter, Michelle (David) Bash of Vernon, AL; grandchildren, Tiffany Wheeler, Nathan (Misti)Wheeler, Jonathan (Hayley) Camp, Stephanie (David) Cox, Matthew Camp, and Jared Bush; great-grandchildren, Landon Cox, Nate Colvin, Ethan Foster, Lejand Wheeler, Baby Drew Camp, and Baby Girl Cox; brother, Derrll Wheeler of Vernon, AL; and four sisters, Irene (Charles) Estes of Tampa, FL, Lovie Honeycutt (Bufrey) Dean of Sylacauga, AL, Loretta (Gerald) Palmer of Sheffield, AL, and Delaine (Jerry) Robertson of Vernon, AL.
