Mr. Paul Wilburn Woods, age 85, of Vernon, AL, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Mr. Woods was born on October 24, 1940, in the home of his parents, Clifton and Evelyn Woods, located in Gattman, MS. He was a 1959 graduate of Lamar County High School. Known for his dependable work ethic, Paul had a long history of working from a young age in sawmills, as a school bus driver, truck driver, Army National Guardsman, and retired from NAACO in 2004. Above all, his most valued job was being fully present for his family as father and PaPaw.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 25, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Terry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Ben Burleson, Ryan Woods, Seth Seaborn, Shawn Woods, Brogan Woods, and Ross Seaborn. Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Flynn, JT Woods, David Lacy, Wade Oakes, Cole Jackson, Drake Hollis, and Bobby Burleson.
In addition to his parents, Clifton and Evelyn Woods, Paul was preceded in death by his older sister, Willodean Woods and his daughter, Amy Leigh Woods Lacy. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of sixty years, Dianne Oakes Woods. His beloved family survivors include his daughters, Emily (Ben) Burleson and Michele (Shawn) Woods; son in law, David (Amy) Lacy; five grandchildren, Ashley (Seth) Seaborn, Alisyn (Cole) Jackson, Shelby (Drake) Hollis, Ryan Woods and Brogan Woods; six great-grandchildren, Ross and Ryleigh Seaborn, Isabelle, Dallie, Beulah, and Colt Hollis; one brother, JT Woods; and one sister, Doris Franks.
