Obituary
Mr. Randy George Mason, age 62 of Vernon, AL, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Mason was born January 9, 1951, in Amory, MS, to Doris Frye and the late Claudus Mason. He served in the Vietman War and was a member of the Lamar Co. High School 1969 state champion football team. Mr. Mason also enjoyed cooking, fishing, golf, and painting. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Ashby, and his niece, Kathy Ashby.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Vernon with Randy Wright and Patrick Gunn officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Friday evening 5-7 at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Phebe (Tony) Gaines of Pace, FL and Kristi (Curtis) Mason Wetzel of Birmingham, AL; one son, Benjamin Mason of Chicago, IL; his mother, Doris (Rollie) Frye of Sulligent, AL; one niece, Janet (Joey) Ashby Scola of Olive Branch, MS; and one nephew, Mark (Teresa) Ashby of Vernon, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society's Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge, 1104 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205.
