Obituary
Mr. Richard Dobbs Prater, age 90 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Generations of Vernon.
Mr. Prater was born February 12, 1923, in Lamar Co., AL to the later Sardis and Rosa Lee Prater. He served in the U.S. Army, worked as an edger at a saw mill, and was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Prater was also preceded in death by two brothers, Coy Prater and Landon Prater, and two sisters, Lavern Lancaster and Loventrice Davis.
Graveside services will be Friday at 3:00 at Christian Chapel with Garey Perkins and Don Randolph officiating.
Survivors include his son, Eric Lincoln Prater; his brother, James Morris (Gerry) Prater of Cottondale, AL; and three sisters, Lavelle Styres of Northport, AL, Lydia Maglietta of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Banks (Garey) Perkins of Hot Springs Village, AR.
