Rick Woods, 55, joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his final fishing hole, Saturday, May 30, 2015. He will be casting lines along side his late father, Charles Woods, and late brother, Donnie Woods.
Rick was born March, 15, 1960 in San Diego, California. As a child, he helped his parents at the family bait and tackle shop. During this time, he discovered his true passions for fishing and hunting, passions he never let go of. He was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand and sincerely loved living life. Although, his faith and family always came first in life, fishing, hunting, and his animals were a close second.
Rick was just 9 years old when he found Jesus Christ. From that point forward, he lived his life for the Lord, overflowing with love, kindness, and bigheartedness. Whether it was with a smile, a sweet gesture, or just being there when you needed him, he gave hope, light, and encouragement to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He had a gracious laugh that will be dearly missed here on Earth, but sure to be heard all through the Heavens.
Those remaining here to grieve his loss include: his wife, Wanda Woods of Vernon, AL; his mother, Mary Woods of Vernon, AL; sisters, Joyce Ormsby (Tom) of Parowan, UT and Kathryn Burnett of Northport, AL; daughter, Kayce Arends (Jason) of Caledonia, MS; step-children, Jeremy Fayette of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, David Fayette of Winfield, AL, and Christina McDuffie (Jonathan) of Vernon, AL; step-grandson, Dalton McDuffie; as well as several foster-siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to Rick Woods Memorial fund at Bank of Vernon, P.O. Box 309, Vernon, AL 35592.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3:00 at the Open Door Christian Fellowship in Vernon with Jason Arends officiating. Burial will follow at the Fellowship Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the church 1-3 prior to the service.
