Mr. Robert Hawkins, age 80 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Hawkins was born on September 22, 1934, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Walker and Frankie Lawrence Hawkins. He attended Lamar County High School in Vernon and worked with Sanford Resources Corporation and subsidiaries beginning in 1961. He served continuously in many capacities including Vice President, President, and Director. Mr. Hawkins retired in 1996, but continued to consult and advise the company. He was an elder and member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawkins was also preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Edgeworth; three brothers, James Hawkins, John A. Hawkins, and Clyde Hawkins; and his sister, Edna Faye Harris.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 4:00 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Travis Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 2-4 prior to the service.

Mr. Hawkins leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Flora Pennington Hawkins of Vernon, AL; his son, Marty (Rhonda) Hawkins of Caledonia, MS; three daughters, Carol (Bill) Freeman of Vernon, AL, Fonda (Tony) Edgeworth of Sulligent, AL, and Joy (Bobby) Spencer of Vernon, AL; his grandchildren, Jess (Tyler) Wheat of Caledonia, MS, Tyler Edgeworth of Sulligent, AL, Jessica Freeman of Guin, AL, Brooke Spencer of Vernon, AL, and Bo Spencer of Vernon, AL; and his brother, J.M. (Lena) Hawkins of Vernon, AL.
