Mr. Robert Earl McCool, age 78 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. McCool was born June 5, 1938, in Caledonia, MS, to the late James Elbert and Carrie Ann McCool. He was a manager with Greif Brothers and enjoyed fishing, going to church, wood working, and spending time with his family. He loved his dogs and was also a fan of NASCAR racing and MMA Boxing. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCool was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Faye McCool; one brother, Golden Howard McCool; one grandson, Chuck Earl Myers; and his good friend, Mary Ruth Gilmer.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 at the Free Will Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Arnold Sheets and Bro. James Godsey officiating. Graveside services will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8 at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby McCool, Michael McCool, Chris McCool, Ricky Stockman, Billy Knoop, and Andrew Garner. Honorary pall bearers will be Sean Garner, Caleb McCool, Rhett Culpepper, Jimmy Garner, Doug Barnes, Jeremy Elmore, Jacob McLemore, Drew Barnes, and the men of Free Will Chapel FWB Church.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Lyn) McCool of Horn Lake, MS and Bobby (Laura) McCool of Steens, MS; two daughters, Evelyn (Doug) Barnes of Vernon, AL and Lawanda (Jimmy) Garner of Columbus, MS; ten grandchildren, Chris McCool, Allyson Creighton, Michelle McCool, Billy Knoop, Vicki Elmore, Andrew Garner, Sarah Culpepper, Sean Garner, Jessica McCool, and Jennifer Costas; six great-grandchildren, Caleb McCool, Brittney McLemore, Eathan McCool, Madalyn Creighton, Benjamin Creighton, and Hannah Allen; one great-great-grandson, Kipton McLemore; and two sisters, Betty Williams of Sherwood, AR and Elizabeth Stockman of Sulligent, AL.
