Robert Hugh Tate, age 87 of Vernon, passed away Wed., Oct. 13, 2010 at Generations of Vernon.
Mr. Tate was born Jan. 4, 1923 in Lamar Co., AL to the late James Thomas and Daily Tate. He served in the U.S. Army and WWII and worked in building construction. He was also a retired primitive baptist preacher of fifty years and enjoyed talking about the bible.
Funeral services will be Sat. at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with John Williams and David Westmoreland officiating. Graveside service will be Wed. at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, TX.
He is survived by one daughter, Pat Lee of Mustang, OK; two sons, Robert Hugh Tate, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM and Samuel Thomas "Tommy" Tate of Caledonia, MS; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Tate; parents, James Thomas and Daily Tate; eight brothers; and seven sisters.
