Mr. Robert "Bobby" Thomas Spencer, Jr., age 57 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Mr. Spencer was born March 26, 1960, in Warren, OH, to the late Robert "Bob" Thomas Spencer, Sr. and Mae McLellan Spencer. He was a Resident Inspector for Goodwin, Mills, and Cawood. He was a member of the Vernon Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spencer was also preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Lewis Spencer.

Funeral services will be Friday at 3:00 PM at the Vernon Church of Christ with Eddie Finch and Al McLellan officiating. Burial will follow at the Christian Chapel cemetery. Prior to the service, visitation will be Friday 12-3 PM at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Dollar, Vance Herron, Jerry Glenn Merchant, Greg Norton, Andy Robertson, John Paul Robertson, David Spann, and David Wise. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Goodwin, Mills, and Cawood, Steven Bass, Tim Estes, Frederick Maddox, John Matthews, and Don Rector. Ushers will be Dalton Avent, Brady Dollar, T.J. Eskridge, Cade Herron, Andrew Norton, Ric Rogers, and C.J. Wise.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife, Joy Hawkins Spencer of Vernon, AL; his daughter, Brooke Spencer of Vernon, AL; his son, Bo Spencer of Vernon, AL; his brother, Scott (Jennifer) Spencer of Flowery Branch, GA; his sister, Cathy (James) Reilly of Vero Beach, FL; four nephews, Patrick, Spencer, James Quentin, and John Garrett Reilly; two uncles, Curtis "Sonny" (Joan) McLellan and Al (Faye) McLellan; one aunt, Linda (Lee) Smith; and a host of other family and friends.
