Obituary

Mr. Roger Edward Slone, age 58 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016, at his residence.

Roger was born May 18, 1957, in Hamilton, OH, to Irene Slone and the late Herman Slone, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was the owner of Lamar Co. Service Center. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed deer hunting, playing music, singing, his horses, a good argument at times, reading his Bible, and watching baseball, football, and basketball. In addition to his father, Roger was also preceded in death by one brother, Dannie Slone, and two sisters, Linda Gail Slone and Venita Slone.

A memorial service will be Monday at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with David Sullivan and James Godsey officiating. Visitation will be Monday 12-2 prior to the service.

Roger is survived by his wife, Kaye Lyn Sullivan Slone of Vernon, AL; his mother, Irene Slone of Vernon, AL; two sons, Michael Paul Slone of Mobile, AL and Phillip (Tiffany) Slone of Vernon, AL; three grandchildren, Tristian, Kylee, and Karly Slone, all of Vernon, AL; two sisters, Willma (Ron) Hill of Macon, GA and Deborah Slone of Vernon, AL; one brother, Herman Slone, Jr. of Lena, MS; five nephews, Brandon (Shanda) Sullivan, Ronnie (Alexia) Hill, Roger, Mathew Slone, Ethan Sullivan, and Daniel Slone; his very special friend, Striker; and a host of close friends.
