Mrs. Ruby Corbell Atkins, age 88 of Columbus, MS, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Atkins was born February 18, 1927, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Garvin and Millie Corbell. She was a homemaker and was married to the late Leon Atkins. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Atkins was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Atkins Merchant; two brothers, Wesley Corbell and Jim Corbell; and three sisters, Judy Coggins, Ollie Rickman, and Catherine Rogers.

Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with David Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Furnace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 1:30-3:00 prior to the service.

Survivors include her grandson, Jason Kemp (Rosalynn) Merchant of Caledonia, MS; three great-grandchildren, Colton Pierce Merchant, Reagan Elizabeth Merchant, and Samuel Jones; and one sister, Laverne (Jack) Price of Ethelsville, AL.
