Mrs. Ruby Gray Mitchell, age 89 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Mitchell was born February 14, 1932, in Steens, MS, to the late Lonnie T. and Annie Mae Moore.  She was a seamstress, and was married to the late Billy Mitchell.  In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mitchell was also preceded in death by one infant granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 9, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Michael Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in the Hightogy Community.  Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00-4:00 PM, prior to the service.

Survivors include one son, Doyle (Pattie) Mitchell of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Lytheda (Edward) Barnes of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Vonda (Ricky) Sanders of Steens, MS; one brother, Luther Moore of Vernon, AL; three sisters, Alice Johnson of Vernon, AL, Betty Pennington of Millport, AL, and Helen Hayes of Birmingham; six grandchildren, Mindi Oakes, Kirk Mitchell, Paige Dorsey, Bryan Barnes, Angelia Collins, and Madeline Crabtree; and seven great-granddaughters, Presley, Molly, Loa, Della, Lacey, Olivia, and Elllis.
