Ms. Ruby Parker, age 86 of Gardendale, AL and formerly of Vernon, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at Magnolia Ridge in Gardendale.

Ms. Parker was born May 9, 1926, in Lamar Co., AL to the late Lonnie Owen and Abbie Stanley. She was a city worker at Vernon City Hall. Ms. Parker enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, cooking, and gardening. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Gladys Marlene "Penny" Goodson; four grandchildren, Billy Pinen, Lynn Goodson, Carrie Lowe, and Charles Hamilton; four brothers, Lenwood Stanley, Nelson Stanley, Felton Stanley, and Marion Stanley; and two sisters, Winnie Nell Overton and Lela Mae Goodson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with James Godsey officiating. Burial will follow at Wallnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 12-2 prior to the service.

Survivors include two sons, Lee (Margaret) Goodson of Tarrent, AL and John (Vicki) Grier of Hayden, AL; four daughters, Rae McDuffey of Kimberly, AL, Marie Hamilton of Calera, AL, Georgette (Lester) Crowe of Tarrent, AL, and Abbie (Gary) Condray of Pell City, AL; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Hulsey of Cullman, AL; and four caregivers, Sandra Siegal, Cathy Anderton, Darious Maxwell, and Renita Woodard.
