Mr. Shelton Larry Tucker, age 79, of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his residence.

Larry was born February 12, 1945, in Jasper, AL, to the late Shelton Howard and Opal Pauline (Rainey) Tucker.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Tucker.

On June 10, 1989, Larry married Jill M. German, who survives him.  He is also survived by his son, Larry (Jinene) Tucker, of Vernon, AL; his daughter, Ashley Tucker, of Vernon, AL; two grandchildren, Angela Hankins of Vernon, AL and Robert Tucker of Birmingham, AL; and five great-grandchildren.

Larry graduated from Winfield High School in 1963.  He proudly served in the Navy from 1967-1971.  Larry then moved to Illinois where he worked for various companies as a welder.  He started working for Victor Dana in Robinson, IL in 1977 until he retired as a foreman in 2004.  After retiring, Larry opened an upholstery shop just to have something to do, but it soon turned into a full-time job until late 2010.

Larry loved old cars, especially his 1971 Heavy Chevy.  He could often be found at car shows or tinkering on old cars.

The family has chosen cremation, and no service has been planned at this time.
