Mr. Sim Odessie "Dess" Holmes, Sr., age 69, of Madison, AL, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Holmes was born January 17, 1944, in Kemper Co., MS, to the late Jim and Lucy Holmes. He served in the U.S. Army and Vietnam War and was a foreman for Kellogs. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John L. Holmes, Royce Holmes, and Roy Lee Holmes; and two sisters, Hilda Perry and Sealice Nelson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:00 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church in Golston, MS with Mr. Robert Parks officiating. He will lie in state at the church 11-12. Graveside services will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Golston.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Holmes of Madison, AL; son, Sim O. Holmes, Jr. of Madison, AL; daughter, Tameka P. Holmes of Madison, AL; five brothers, Robert Holmes of Oklahoma City, OK, James (Olivette) Holmes of Preston, MS, Harvey Holmes of Preston, MS, Willie (Cleo) Holmes of Omaha, NE, and Daniel (Ethel) Holmes of Omaha, NE; sister, Annie Mae Langford of Omaha, NE; and aunt, Leva Stennis of Preston, MS.
