Sue Carolyn Godfrey, age 74 of Vernon, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.
Mrs. Godfrey was born April 17, 1937 to the late Lummie Lee and Leila Wheeler Moore. She worked in the quality control department at Westing House.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 21, at First Baptist Church, where she will lie in state 1-2, with Clyde Stevens and David Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her husband, Charles Godfrey of Vernon; three sisters, Gaylor Weems of Millport, Margaret (Ellis) Pearce of Hamilton, AL, and Jewel (Arlie) Wallace of Fayette. She is also survived by a host of many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. There were six other very special people in her life that we want to include, "adopted children" Phillip Glasgow, his wife Marquetta, their daughter Jade Glasgow Bostick (who was also Sue's God Daughter) and her husband Blake, and their children, Crawford and Ivy.
Mrs. Godfrey was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harlon Ray Moore and Richard Lee Moore; infant sister, Ola Grace Moore; and two nephews, Daryl Glenn Moore and Tom McReynolds.
