Mrs. Theolyn Kay Hardy, age 78 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at her home.
Mrs. Hardy was born August 8, 1939, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Silas and Maudie Thomas. She was a graduate of Lamar County High School and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Hardy worked as the branch manager at the First Federal Savings and Loan then worked as the chief clerk for the Lamar County Tax Collector, and was later elected to three terms as the Lamar County Tax Assessor. Mrs. Hardy lived a full life and enjoyed horseback riding, softball, camping, and vacationing with her family. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Butler and Evelyn Jones.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Chris Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00-8:00.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by her husband, Leon Hardy of 61 years, of Vernon, AL; two sons, Tim Hardy of Trussville, AL and Terry Hardy of Atlanta, GA, and one daughter, Vanessa Corbett of Vernon, AL, and their spouses; three grandchildren, Taylor Hardy, Caleb Corbett, and Carly Corbett; two brothers, Wilbur Thomas and Davis Thomas; and a host of other family and friends.
