Mrs. Theresa Reeves Woods Chandler was born May 31, 1926, and passed into her heavenly life on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at The Arrington in Columbus, MS
Mrs. Chandler was the oldest child of Henry Clay and Lydia Lou Reeves of Vernon. She was a graduate of Livingston College and taught school for 32 years beginning at Crossville School, Sulligent School, then Vernon Elementary where she would finish out her teaching career except for one year spent in Big Spring, TX. Mrs. Chandler was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Vernon where she was active in many capacities including WMU director, GA leader, Vacation Bible School director, Sunday school teacher, and many other activities. She was also a 50 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association, Lamar Co. Health Council, former volunteer at Lamar Regional Hospital, and many other volunteer organizations. Despite all of these areas of service and numerous honors, she would be the first to tell you her proudest accomplishments were that of her family.
Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Woods in 1957 and her second husband, A.A. Chandler in 2002; her brother, Gene Reeves; and her sister, Linda Reeves.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Vernon with David Woods officiating. Burial will follow at the Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 12-2 at the church prior to the service.

She had nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that were faithful to visit her and she cherished them.
Because of Mrs. Chandler's life long love of missions, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church's Lottie Moon Offering for Foreign Missions, P.O. Box 430, Vernon, AL 35592.
