Mrs. Tressie B. McClendon, age 95 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, at her residence.
Mrs. McClendon was born February 2, 1921, in Marion Co., AL, to the late Roy D. and Ozie Gann Franks. She was a seamstress and married the late Erbie McClendon on June 21, 1941. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McClendon was also preceded in death by her son, Billy Joe McClendon; her son-in-law, Tommy McCool; and four sisters, Exie Lee Franks Sandlin, Mary Edna Franks Smith, Dessie D. Franks Merchant, and Kathleen Franks McCloud.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 from the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Eddie Rogers and Glenn Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening 6-8 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Gordon, Tommy McCool, Adam Aaron, Scott King, Tim Gordon, and Frankie Rogers.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Jean (Terry) Coomer of Sulligent, AL; one brother, Daniel Wilson Franks of Sulligent, AL; two sisters, Carrie Lou Haskett of Meridian, MS and Georgie Lee Hall of Sulligent, AL; four grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Channell of Vernon, AL, Kim (Tim) Gordon of Vernon, AL, Crystal Aaron of Nettleton, MS, and Wendy McClendon of Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany McCool, Cynthia King, Thomas Gordon, Taylor Aaron, Adam Aaron, Tommy McCool, Hannah McCool, and Dezaray McClendon; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kayden Bradford, Kinsley Johnson, Ryleigh Aaron, Gracelynn King, and Zachary Channell.
