Mrs. Vera Deloris (Dodie) Rector, age 79 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Fayette Long Term Care.

Mrs. Rector was born Feb. 1, 1932 in Clinton, IL to the late Winfield Scott Winstead and Eva Irene Winstead Gomes. She was a homemaker and member of the Vernon Church of Christ where she taught a childrens Sunday school class for many years.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Terry Collins and Eddie Finch officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel. Visitation will be Sunday evening 6-8:30.

Survivors are her husband, Alton Rector of Vernon; son, Robin Rector of Alaska; four daughters, Sherry (Stoney) Price of Vernon, Melanie (Terry) Collins of Round Rock, TX, Lisa (Jeff) King of New London, CT, and Mary (Jared) Felkins of Ft. Payne, AL; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Herron of Melbourne, FL; and brother, Jimmy Gomes of Palm Bay, FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Rector and Shawn Rector.
