Obituary
Mrs. Versa Rhea Griffin, age 99 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Fayette Long Term Care Center.
Mrs. Griffin was born June 19, 1915, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Calvin Franklin and Mary Frances Lawrence. She was a school lunchroom worker and was married to the late Lee Roy Griffin. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Eddie Griffin, Angie Wingo, and Andrew Griffin, and three sisters, Vera Perkins, Verla Harrison, and Bea Bishop.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:00 at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church with Mike Nabors officiating. Graveside services will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be 11-12 at the church prior to the service.
Survivors include three sons, James Leon (Jessie) Griffin of Chunchula, AL, Calvin Maurice Griffin of Vernon, AL, and Curtis Lee Griffin of Orange Beach, AL; one daughter, Nettie Rhea Randolph of Vernon, AL; six grandchildren, Larry Griffin, Marcia Davis, Billy Griffin, Rita Jordan, James Taylor, and Jeff Taylor; fifteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ora Seay Burnett of Sulligent, AL and Margie Stidham of Saraland, AL.
