Obituary

Mrs. Wanda Jean Box Gunnels, age 71 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Gunnels was born November 8, 1942, in Monroe Co., MS to the late Oliver Dean and Iva Mae Box.  She worked in the coil room at Chromalox and she enjoyed working in her flower gardens, watching her humming birds, and spending time with friends and family.  In addiition to her parents, Mrs. Gunnels was preceded in death by her twin sister, Gayla Gaddy.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 in the funeral home chapel with Tim Meherg officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be Sunday 1:30-3:00 prior to the service.

Survivors include her husband, Joel Gunnels of Vernon, AL; three daughters, Pamela Ballenger (Buddy Hudson) of West Point, MS, Rosalie (Ricky) Turner of Vernon, AL, and Kimberly (John Paul) Robertson of Vernon, AL; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Jess) Barnes, Christopher Turner, Tori Ballenger, Summer Robertson, Regan Robertson, Tezzie Robertson, and Seelee Robertson; two great-grandchildren, K.K. Turner and Beau Barnes; one sister, Bonne (J.B.) Stafford of Millport, AL; and one brother, Jeff Box of Caledonia, MS.
