Mrs. Willie Quinn Corbett Vail-Pennington, age 89, of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022, surrounded by family.
Willie was born Lamar County, AL, on September 9, 1932. She was the daughter of the late James Edward Corbett and Margie Elliott Corbett-Sims, and was the oldest of four children. Willie was manufacturer at Coy Glenn and Reltoc Manufacturing for 40 years. She was a charter member of Oakes Chapel Baptist Church in Crossville, AL. Her hobbies included fishing, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, crossword puzzles, and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook.
Willie married the late Rev. Lloyd Winford Vail on August 15, 1952. They had two sons and a daughter, and 40 wonderful years together. Willie re-married the late Hubbert Pennington on May 24th, 2003, and they had 13 years together. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bennie Ray (Tootsie) Corbett.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 7, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Don Taggart, Bro. Wayne Overton, and Bro. Joe Moseley officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oakes Chapel. Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Harold Partain, Danny West, Tim Otts, Mitch Wiggins, Justin Abrams, and Joseph Vail. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Wiggins and Carter Abrams.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Mary) Vail and Joey (Kim) Vail; one daughter, Sandra (John) Smith; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Mitch) Wiggins, Crystal (Justin) Abrams, Kaylee Vail, and Joseph Vail; four great-grandchildren, Sydney and Matthew Wiggins and Carter and Kimber Abrams; one sister, Mary Nell (John) Partain; one brother, James Edward (Lavell) Corbett, Jr.; and special friends, Don (Teresa) Taggart, Dorothy (Harriet) Baucom, and Sarah (Tim) Otts, along with a host of grandchildren.
The family gives a special thanks to Baptist Memorial Hospital, Generations of Vernon, and Northwest Alabama Hospice for her care the past two months. A special thanks to friends for the calls, visits, and food. Mother loved everyone.
